Have you ever felt like you wanted to be more organized in your business? Like as an entrepreneur, you want to finally tackle HOW to plan for your best year ever in business?
I’ve totally been there and as entrepreneurs, we’re kind of famous for flying by the seat of our pants.
But girl if you’re going to be in business, you NEED to have a plan.
I’ll be walking you through 3 things you need to get your plan in motion for you…
1. Know Your Current Business Numbers
If you don’t know your numbers, you have nothing to measure your success (or not) against. You can continue guessing at how well your business is doing, or maybe you’re thinking it isn’t doing the best but the only way to know for sure is by tracking numbers. Here are the main ones:
- How much you are making each month, you should have a spreadsheet keeping track of this for your company.
- How much you are making in profit – After taxes and all the bills, you need to pay to keep your business running. What is that number?
- Your expenses – How much are you paying out each month to stay afloat?
Once you’ve got these numbers of the current state of your business, you can use that to track how you did and set goals to move the business forward.
It’s also great to give you a really accurate representation of what is going on in your business. You either know you need to step it up or you’re on the right track.
2. Know Your Future Business Numbers
It’s time to set goals for what you would like to make for the year. Based on your current numbers and your goal, what number will stretch you but also make you feel like you can reach it?
3. Split your year into 90 days each – 4 quarters
Now pick your goals for the year and split them up. When we make a plan for an entire year, it’s easy to lose steam after the first month or so…it seems so far off it’s easy to say “I’ll just get to that next week”. Instead, split your year into 90 days and plan one big project and maybe 1-2 smaller projects within that 90 days.
If you look at your year ahead you’ll know which big projects you’d like to tackle, and likely which are smaller as well…go ahead and divide those into 90 days each.
For example, you could say for the first quarter you’re going to have a big goal to book 5 weddings. The next quarter could be another 5 weddings and spring minis. And so on and so on.
This keeps you motivated and the 90 days are short enough that you know…you don’t have time to be putting your dreams off.
Planning for the year ahead in your business might feel intimidating, but I promise you when you set aside some time and sit down to do it you will feel so much better. Rather than letting your business run you, you’ll come to your work desk every day confident and knowing what to work on to push the needle forward.
