You can have it all.
We aren’t supposed to say that, we’re supposed to say that it isn’t possible and it’s really hard, and maybe in order to be a “good mom” you’ve got to give up your dreams for a while because you can’t have your cake and eat it too…right?
People are right…it is hard. Being a mother raising babies and being an entrepreneur is going to stretch you like nothing has ever stretched you before. But just because it’s hard doesn’t mean you aren’t going to do it (and do it well!)
“EVERYTHING WE SEE IS PERSPECTIVE, NOT THE TRUTH”
Something being hard is much different than something being complicated. Building a business is hard, being a mom is hard…but SO WHAT? Here’s your announcement that you are fully capable today, right now, to be the best damn mother & entrepreneur at the same time. I’m here to give you some tips that I have learned through building multiple businesses while I was also homeschooling and raising babies.
These tips I hope will help you as you continue to build and scale your business. Seeking any type of mentorship whether it’s through books, blogs, courses, coaching, or other mompreuners you know personally is the absolute best thing you can do for your mental health, family health, and business health.
HERE’S 3 YOU CAN WALK AWAY WITH TODAY
1. PERSPECTIVE
It’s really easy to fall into mom martyrdom. The “woe is me, look how busy I am” mentality and it’s true! You are busy! But rather than look at it from a poor me perspective, flip it and look at how truly empowering it is that you are building a business while also being able to raise amazing, beautiful babies. You are a badass woman showing your children an example of what it means to work hard and build the life of your dreams…that’s a blessing.
2. WHITESPACE
If you never have whitespace to think, you will always be a product of everyone else’s thoughts around you…including your kids. Make sometime every day to create some mental space for yourself. No T.V., no phone, no children, no spouse, no friends…just you and your thoughts. It’s easy to think you have no time for this, but you do. You can wake up 30 minutes earlier than your kids, you can sign up for a gym with a daycare, and you can do it when your baby is napping…get creative here, the point is to find a time when your mind isn’t being occupied by anything other than itself. Not only will this refresh you mentally but also you will get the most clarity on your business from these times.
3. PRIORITISE
Most people plan what they know they have to do, the key is to plan out everything that is a priority to you. Is reading to your kids every night a priority? Add it to your calendar. Maybe your workout is a priority, add that to your calendar. Weekly dinner date you’ve been wanting to have with your husband but “no time”…add that to your calendar. Want to wake up earlier to have an extra hour to work on your business, add that to your calendar. When you plan for only what you have to do, you are working reactively and so you never actually accomplish anything that really means something to you. So in addition to planning the necessities, also add in all of the things that you want to do that week including that class you want to take, the bike ride, the mid-week family trip, and the start of a new book. Those things are just as important.
Remember in your journey of motherhood and building your business, it’s about creating a life on your terms. Getting strategic and making better use of our time. Use our time to prioritize the things that are truly important to us, because it’s easy to fall into the trap of busy busy busy, work work work, I don’t have time.
The truth is, you have plenty of time to do everything you’ve ever dreamed of, build a successful business, and be an amazing mother.
Women everywhere are beginning to realize that you actually can have it all…and they would like it delivered.
